Gavin was helped across the
Rainbow Bridge this morning.
Ever since he was diagnosed
3 years ago, we always expected that he would
pass of his cardiomyopathy.
I was sure that I would come home from work one
day and he would be gone.
It was a cruel twist that lymphoma would force us
to have to make that final
decision.
Gavin was a sweetheart and
a gentleman and our constant companion. He
was a perfect bed partner,
couch warmer & resident snuggler. He enjoyed
traveling and especially liked
staying in hotels. Never a barker or chewer, he
was a happy boy. He loved
meeting people, especially kids and was never in a
dog fight, Although he did
exchange some trash talk with Levi once ;-) In our
eyes, he could do no wrong.
The day that beautiful little face popped out of
the airline crate, he truly
did "have us at hello".
He will be very sadly missed
for a very long time. We will never get to see
him in the eyes of his children
or grandchildren. He never had any. Gavin is the
poster child for proving why
we must holter our asymptomatic dogs. I came
very close to using him before
his first holter. Hopefully his DNA will help with
the cardiomyopathy & lymphoma
studies at Broad Institute & CHIC.
Besides being the perfect companion,
Gavin was also a pretty good show dog.
You can see highlights of
his show career Below.
We wouldn't have missed our
dance with him for the world. Gavin would have
been 5 next month.
Sleep well Baby Boy. You'll
forever remain in our hearts & in our dreams.
